The Speaker for New Leadership,
Innovation and Ambidexterity
The Challenge
More than ever, organisations are caught between core business and shaping the future, between efficiency and impact, between tradition and disruption. This increasingly puts management and employees to the test. This balancing act seems like the ambition to become…
Olympic champion in weightlifting
AND at the same time
World champion in ballet.
World champion in weightlifting AND at the same time Olympic champion in figure skating.
The Solution
Can this balancing act between tradition & innovation work at all? And can established organisations develop the innovative power & agility of start-ups and new-techs? The answer is clear:
Hell YES.
The solution is called: #Ambidextrerity. It is the ability to be efficient AND innovative-flexible at the same time.
Only those organisations will survive
who master both:
today’s efficiency AND
the impact of tomorrow.
Only those organisations will survive that master both: today´s efficiency AND the impact of tomorrow.
How can I help?
Through my corporate experience (BMW Group) and as a specialist author, I combine practice AND theory. In my Keynotes I reveal how opposites strengthen the company. I also reveal how ambidexterity can be effectively implemented. I reveal which steps and measures are necessary. Und last but not least: I awake enthusiasm for the “both/and-thinking”.
Both/and-thinking, the courage to change and the balancing act
between opposing poles accompanied me all my life.
Both/And-thinking,
courage to
change
and the balancing act
between
opposing poles
accompanied me
all my
life.
Hello, I am Christian Schwedler,
I studied and graduated as an architect, but this was just the beginning. My career has taken me across three continents through various jobs and adventures.
My expertise comes not (only) from textbooks, but directly from practice: in addition to my freelance work, I am an internal consultant in a DAX company in the area of strategic research and development.
But let’s take it one step at a time:
From Berlin to Sydney: With music & courage into the world of concrete and sunshine
I financed my studies as a fun-punk musician with a record deal at Universal Music. I performed at national TV-shows and played in front of 100,000 people at the Brandenburg Gate on New Year’s Eve.
.
After I graduated from University and considering the German construction industry was in recession, I decided to pack my suitcase and fly to Australia – without a job offer in my pocket. My very first job as an architect began on the Australian Sunshine Coast followed by a second job in Sydney. After two years I decided to move to London to work with star architect Norman Foster. At a time when many people still dismissed it as a niche subject, I got involved with digital tools, as an early adopter of 3d-printing and 4d-design.
After meeting my Chilean wife in London, we moved to Santiago de Chile, where I set up a digital visualisation studio. Admittedly, without any knowledge of Spanish, the first few months were tough, plus an earthquake with a magnitude of 8.8 (we were on the 12th floor) added more to the adventure.
.
Back home. In my luggage: inspiration, a thirst for action and a mission.
I returned home in 2012, packed with the impulses and experiences from eight years abroad. It was clear to me that I wanted to devote myself even more intensively to the topics of the new world of work and transformation. My current job in the strategic control centre of a DAX company is the ideal prerequisite for this. It gives me an unfiltered insider’s view of the transformation of industry.
The common thread in my CV?
The rejection of status quo fondness and comfort zones! Instead: constant game shifting and opportunity thinking. I now pass on the experiences from my career. In an authentic way.
NEWS ++ coming soon: My book #2 on the topic “Tensions between Core Business and Disruption” will be published by HAUFE publishing in spring 2024.
My first book “Speed-Dating mit der Arbeit von Morgen” was published on 22.2.22:
When our working world is turning upside down:
How do you keep your perspective – without doing headstand?
Tomorrow’s work offers many opportunities, you just have to recognise them in the jungle of possibilities: Can artificial intelligence also create jobs? What skills will be needed? How can you use New Work for more joy, flexibility and fulfilment?
This book works like speed dating: you get many insights in an entertaining and compact way.
.

Diving into the new world of work is like jumping
off the diving board from a five-metre tower.
First you hesitate, then you want to turn around,

forgotten how to swim after all.
